The Hunchback of Notre Dame

Set Construction - June/July 2025

My Contributions

The Hunchback of Notre Dame was a summer musical produced at a local community theatre near me. I was asked to help with the production after my work with the company the previous year on Sister Act. Although the show was large in scale, the process lasted just under a month. During that time, I contributed a total of 147 hours, working almost every evening and many weekends. After the set was completed, I continued with the production, assisting with props, costumes, and additional set work. While I was not the scenic designer for this show, my prior experience with the company allowed me some creative freedom. My main contributions included designing and constructing the decorative, ornate railings around the cathedral’s upper level, as well as the large bells suspended above the checkered stage floor. I also helped paint and install the limestone walls on either side of the stage and assisted in building the raised platform used throughout the production. I was also tasked with hanging the majority of the light fixtures used for the show. The most challenging to hang were two large movers on a basketball goal, eighteen feet in the air.
